Abstract
This research aimed to determine the effect of Index Card Match (ICM) method on cognitive ability and motivation of students on the cells subconcept. Research method was quasi-experimental method with control group design pretestposttest. The independent variable in this research was Index Card Match (ICM) method while cognitive ability and motivation of students learning as the dependent variable. Population in this research were all of students class VII SMPN 1 Anyer, academic year 2014/2015 with sample class VII E as an control class and VII H as an experiment class. The sampling technique that used was simple random sampling. Instrument used were multiple-choice test for determining students cognitive ability, motivation questionnaire and observation sheets. Based on analysis, cognitive ability and motivation on experiment class were higher than control class. Based on t-test analysis showed that there was influence on cognitive ability and motivation of students after the use of Index Card Match (ICM) method on the cells subconcept.

| Additional Information: | Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode Index Card Match (ICM) terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa pada subkonsep sel. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen semu dengan desain kelompok kontrol pretest- posttest. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Index Card Match (ICM) sedangkan kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa sebagai variabel terikat. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMPN 1 Anyer, tahun ajaran 2014/2015 dengan sampel siswa kelas VII E sebagai kelas kontrol dan siswa kelas VII H sebagai kelas eksperimen. Teknik pengambilan sampel berupa simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes tertulis pilihan ganda untuk mengukur kemampuan kognitif siswa, angket motivasi siswa untuk mengetahui motivasi siswa dan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dari pada kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil analisis uji t dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh metode Index Card Match (ICM) terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa pada subkonsep sel. | |||||||||
