Abstract

Problems depletion of natural resources and the growing demand for aggregate and asphalt for construction occurring in the future necessary to find the existence of alternative materials for road construction such as the utilization of waste materials or recycled materials. The purpose of this study was to evaluate test results marshall mixed nature of the mixture Laston Wearing Course (AC-WC) uses the recycled material with aggregated slag modification and without aggregated slag modification. Asphalt mixture used in this study was Asphalt Concrete-Wearing Course (AC-WC) containing Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP), fresh material, asphalt pertamina penetration 60/70 and Slag. The proportion of RAP used was 30% of the total weight of the mixture C2, C3, C4. The proportion of Steel Slag used was 20% and 50% of the total weight of fresh agregate. Variation levels of asphalt used was 4,0 % , 4,5 % , 5,0 % , 5,5 % , and 6,0%. Based on the testing that was done on asphalt concrete layer of wear, it can be concluded that the addition of slag in the mixture wearing course increase strength mixture with the rising value of stability, this is because the slag has a high adhesion to asphalt because of the rough surface of the slag. In addition to the slag SiO2 and CaO are compounds with high levels that strengthen the bond between the slag aggregates and asphalt. For each mixture is added to the durability of the recycled material in the mixture rises as the value of the VFB increased as the mixture is added 30% RAP.
