Abstract
The objective of this research is to find out the influence of Vocabulary Self�Collection Strategy (VSS) toward students’ reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMPN 19 Serang. The researcher used quantitative research implementing the quasi experimental design as the research method. There were two classes used in this research. The experimental and control class. Sample of this research are students of SMPN 19 Serang, 35 students selected for each class. The research found that there is significant influence of Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS) method toward students’ reading comprehension, indicated by the value of t-test higher than the value of t-table (3.15 > 1.995) at the level of significant of α 0.05 and degree of freedom is 68. It means that the hypothesis was accepted. From those findings, it can be concluded that there is any significant influence of Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS) toward students’ reading comprehension.
