Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the significant influence of strip story toward students’ vocabulary mastery at the 8th grade of SMP Dharma Siswa Kota Tangerang. The researcher used quantitative research implementing the true experimental design as research method. The population of this research was all of the students at the eighth grade of SMP Dharma Siswa Kota Tangerang, and the sample that was used in this research was the students of 8 C as experimental class and 8 B as control class. The researcher used 60 students as samples from both of classes. The classess were chosen based on the teacher’s recommendation. By using this media, the researcher conducted the experimental in order to find out the influence in experimental class after treatment. The instrument that used by the researcher was translate vocabulary and choose the best answer of antonym. Moreover, the researcher used content and construct validity to know the validity of the tests and Alpha Cronbach Formula to test the reliability of try out. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed them by using t-test.The result of this research showed the significant influence of students’ vocabulary mastery on experimental class was significant. It can be seen from the result of t-test. The result of hypothesis showed that the significance level in experimental and control class is 0,550 while the significance level based on default SPSS is 0,05. It shown that the significance level in experimental and control class is higher than the significance level based on default SPSS (0,550 > 0,05). Therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of students’ vocabulary mastery by strip story at the eighth grade of SMP Dharma Siswa Kota Tangerang.
