Abstract

Indonesia is currently facing a serious problem that is food insecurity, caused by dependence of Indonesian society on rice consumption as a staple food. In order to fulfill the food needs for population,productive land needed for the rice crops around 13 million ha, but currently productive land that is cultivated around 7.7 Ha. There are six villages in Curug District are included in the category of food insecurity, Two village in the category of food alert. And two others, in the category of food security. The sampling technique of this research is done by proportional random sampling. The method used to determine the number of large samples is using Slovin method, and obtained a total sample of 99 people. Analysis of the data used in this research is the analysis of household food availability and data on household food consumption. From the research results obtained that household food availability in the District Curug each household is 10,64kg, and 143,5kgfor consumption. Food availability of Cassavais 124kg, 51kg for the consumption, and 51kg for a reserve. As sweet potato food availability is 94kg, 54kg for a consumption, and 40kg for a reserve. The level of energy consumption of families and households based AKE showed that the group of food grains and animal food is a food group that contributed most to the energy needs of families and households with a value of 33.28% and 20.13%. While the food groups that contribute the lowest energy is sugar food group with a value of 0.59%. Strategies to improve food patterns expectation is to increase purchasing power, improve production and productivity. Key Words: Food Availability, Household Consumption, Rice, Sweet Potato, Cassava
