Abstract

communication interpersonal into things that can not be separated from everyday life, but in today's digital era interpersonal communication effectiveness be changed because of the convenience of technology, especially communications a long-distance relationship couples who communicate virtually, and to note whether the communication is established through virtual media effective. This study aimed to know how Intimacy mediated Interpersonal Communication Through NewMedia.To answer the question above, then appointed sub-focus of the following research: Socio needs psychological background, motif selection of media, communication intimacy mediated through direct media SynchronousCommunication and media are not directly AsynchronousCommunication,Meeting the needs sosiopsikologis. This research approach using qualitative methods of phenomenology, the research subject is long distance couples. Informants selected withtechnique purposivesampling, to key informants of this research consists of 3 (three) members of the couple distance. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, and observation. The data analysis techniques to reduce the data, collecting data, presenting data, draw conclusions, and evaluation. The results showed that: 1. Background to the needs of long-distance sosiopsikologis pair due to connections made with different space 2. Motif media selection by the pair remotely using online media and personal chat, because the privacy aspects and the ease of interaction 3. There are differences regarding intimacy done with direct and indirect media that is most striking is the interval of time and are not likely partner in terms of interaction, there is a disruption in such technical signal. 4. Fulfillment background sosiopsikologis mediated through newmediaa thehavetendency to application messages FTF using the CMC for the fulfillment of intimacy has not been fully carried out fully. Conclusion This intimacy is not shown explicitly, but implicitly. This is due to the intimacy of the stage yields can only be felt within the couple, and also yields usually go unnoticed.
