Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the use of Jakarta Post Newspaper to improve students’ reading comprehension at the Eleventh grade of SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 2 Kota Tangerang. It is aimed to find out how the using Jakarta Post Newspaper can improve students’ reading comprehension, and to know about the improvement of students’ reading comprehension by used Jakarta Post Newspaper. This research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR). There were 35 students as a reseacrh subject. In this research, the researcher found that there was a significant improvement of students’ reading comprehension towards the use of Jakarta Post Newspaper in their leaning process, that indicated by the result of students’ mean score that was from 51.71 in the pre�test that increased to 74.6 in the post-test 1 and 83.14 in post-test 2. It means that the students’ reading comprehension gets improved and better. From these findings, It can be concluded that the use of Jakarta Post newspaper can improve the students’ reading comprehension effectively. It is suggested that the teacher should implement an effective strategy and media in improving students’ reading comprehension
