Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using Prezi software multimedia toward students‟‟ reading comprehension in descriptive text at the seventh grade of SMPN 13 Kota Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by using true experimental design for conducting the research. The subject of this research is the eighth grade students‟ of SMPN 13 Kota Serang. The subject of this research used cluster random sampling, which consist of two classes. The experimental class is VIII C and VIII B as control class with 37 students in each class. The instrument of this research is test, there are pre-test and post-test that given to both class. Before giving pre-test and post-test, the researcher conducted try-out test in other class to know if the instrument that used in pre-test and post-test is valid and reliable as research instrument. In testing the hypothesis the researcher used t-test as formulas to know the effectiveness of using Prezi software in descriptive text toward students reading comprehension eighth grade of SMPN 13 Kota Serang. The result of this research, shown that by using Prezi software has 0.54 large improvement effect based on the scale of effect size.
