Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the influence of using edmodo on students‟ reading comprehension of the tenth grade in SMA Negeri 19 Kabupaten Tangerang. The researcher used quantitative research by implementing quasi experimental design as the research method. There were two groups used in this research, experimental and control group. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kabupaten Tangerang. From ten classes, two classes were selected by using cluster sampling. X IIS 3 was selected as experimental group and X IIS 4 as control group. There were 38 students in experimental group and 41 students in control group. After conducting the treatments and evaluating both pre-test and post-test by instructing the students to answer the 20 questions in the form of multiple-choice. The result shows that the data of reading comprehension has normal distribution and homogeneous. The data said normal if . For pre-test in control class the data is Pre-test control class 7.906 ≤ 12,592 and post-test is 5.867 ≤ 12,592. For pre-test in experimental class the data is 3.124 ≤ 12,592 and for post-test is 4.389 ≤ 12,592.The researcher found the significant influence of using edmodo on students‟ reading comprehension. It can be seen from the value of t-test which was higher than the value of t-table (6.515 > 1.658) with  or level of significant at 0.05 and 77 as the degree of freedom. It means there was a significance influence of students reading comprehension in descriptive text after teaching reading descriptive text by using edmodo. From the test of the hypothesis is known thatthe students who got the treatment edmodo in teaching reading comprehension got more significant increase in average score than the students who taught by conventional strategy. It‟s that hypothesis which stated that there is significant influence of students‟ reading comprehension by using edmodo is accepted. Therefore, from those findings it can be concluded that using edmodo can influence students‟ reading comprehension.
