Abstract
If observed from the use of the words used in facebook status, found many shortening of the words or abbreviation. Abbreviation is one of morphological processes. Abbreviation is the beheading of one or more sections or a leksem combination that become a new form of the word status. Another term for the abbreviation is shortening, while the result of the process is called short. In this process, leksem or leksem combined become complex words or acronyms or abbreviations with various abbreviation, by beheading, contraction, akronimi, and shortening. The aim of this study was 1) to determine the type of the abbreviation of words used in the facebook status students of SMAIT Raudhatul Jannah, 2) to determine the context of the use of forms of abbreviation in facebook status, and 3) to determine the suitability of facebook status students of SMAIT Raudhatul Jannah with the selection criteria for instructional materials, especially in the Basic Competency of writing argument paragraph. The method used in this research is the method of data collection in the form of a literature study, observation, questionnaires, and interviews with a qualitative approach. In this study taken 90 data and then grouped into types of abbreviation and context analysis based on the SPEAKING theory, DellHymes.The result of this research are types of abbreviation. They are abbreviations, acronyms and contractions. Based on the analysis of the context, speakers of the facebook status is high school age youth by the dominant genre (type of activity) is teens communication in daily activities with quite diverse topics. While Facebook itself can be used in learning to write argument paragraphs, So writing a paragraph can be as easy and light as a writing status on facebook.

| Additional Information: | Jika dicermati dari penggunaan kata-kata yang digunakan dalam status facebook, banyak ditemukan pemendekan kata-kata atau abreviasi. Abreviasi merupakan salah satu proses morfologis. Abreviasi adalah proses pemenggalan satu atau beberapa bagian leksem atau kombinasi leksem sehingga terjadilah bentuk baru yang berstatus kata. Istilah lain untuk abreviasi adalah pemendekan, sedangkan hasil prosesnya disebut kependekan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) untuk mengetahui jenis proses abreviasi kata-kata yang digunakan di dalam status facebook siswa SMAIT Raudhatul Jannah, 2) untuk mengetahui konteks penggunaan bentukbentuk abreviasi di dalam status facebook, dan 3) untuk mengetahui kesesuaian status facebook siswa SMAIT Raudhatul Jannah dengan kriteria pemilihan bahan ajar, khususnya pada Kompetensi Dasar Menulis Paragraf Argumentasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode pengumpulan data berupa studi kepustakaan, observasi atau pengamatan, angket, dan wawancara dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Pada penelitian ini diambil 90 data yang kemudian dikelompokkan ke dalam jenis abreviasi lalu dilakukan analisa konteks berdasarkan teori SPEAKING, Dell Hymes. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan jenis abreviasi berupa singkatan, akronim, dan kontraksi. Berdasarkan analisa konteks, penutur dalam status facebook adalah remaja usia SMA dengan genre (jenis kegiatan) dominan adalah komunikasi remaja dalam kegiatan sehari-hari dengan topik pembicaraan yang cukup beragam. Sedangkan facebook sendiri dapat dimanfaatkan dalam pembelajaran menulis paragraf argumentasi sehingga menulis paragraf bisa semudah dan seringan menulis status pada facebook. | |||||||||
