Abstract

The objectives of this research were to describe the process of teaching reading through Numbered Head Together Technique and to know the improvement of students’ reading comprehension. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher conducted a classroom action research. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles, each cycles consisted of three meetings. The researcher was conducted at SMAN 1 Cikande at X 2 in academic year 2016/2017 with the population were 40 students. Based on the observation, the process of improving students’ reading comprehension through numbered head together technique was successful. The students enjoyed situation and material when teaching and learning process with numbered head together technique. In addition, based on the research result there was improvement from pre test to post test of cycle 1 and cycle 2. The students’ average score in pre test was 59.5. The average score in the first cycle was 65.75 and in the cycle 2 was 75.5 It improved around 9.75 point. From those findings it can be concluded that Numbered Head Together Technique can improve students’ reading comprehension.
