Abstract

Tanjung Kait water is one area of green mussels cultivated province of Banten. One of harmful heavy metals that pollute the environment is heavy metals mercury (Hg), was not only present on water and sediment, but can be found too in the body of organism that can be person for longtime. The aim of the research was to determine the content of heavy metal mercury an purpose of this study is to determine the content of heavy metals mercury and contaminant in water, sediments, green mussels (Perna viridis) and to determine the bioaccumulation factor green mussels to water and sediment. This research was conducted in March-May 2016. Measurement of physical and chemical parameters include the water temperature, brightness, depth, salinity, dissolved oxygen (DO) and the degree of acidity (pH). Measurement method for mercury (Hg)contention water used (BSN 2003); sediment used (BSN 2004); green mussels used (BSN 2006). The research showed that heavy metals mercury (Hg) in the water is still below the Standard Quality Criteria. Range of sediments was 0.55264-8.5156 µg/g that was categorized contaminated by heavy metals mercury, and range of green mussels was 0.05-0.59 mg/kg that was categorized still under Criteria Standard Quality. Based on the heavy metal content of mercury (Hg) in water, sediment and green mussels in the water of Tanjung Kait Tangerang water still feasible for the cultivated of green mussels. Bioaccumulation factor values indicate that the ability of green mussels in the accumulation of heavy metals mercury in water is greater than in the accumulation of heavy metals mercury in the sediment.
