Abstract
The objective of this research is to find out the improvement of students‟ speaking skill by using role play at the seventh grade of SMP IT La Royba Kalodran, Serang, Banten. The researcher used mix method by using classroom action research as qualitative research and quantitative research as supported to find out the improvement of students speaking skill by using role play. The subject of this research is the seventh grade students‟ of SMP IT La Royba Serang which consist of 12 students. The instruments of this research are observation, documentation and test. The observation used in teaching learning process collaboration with teacher, documentation used in taking picture while in teaching learning process and in role play, and test used in taking score to find out the improvement in students speaking score ability. The result of this classroom action research there was 18.51% improvement of students‟ average score from pre-test to post-test 1 and 71.88% improvement from pre-test to post-test 2. The researcher realize that this research still have some weaknesses and mistakes. Therefore, the researcher would like to accept any constructive suggestion to make this better.
