Abstract

The research paper entitled Improving Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Through Picture at The Seventh Grade of Al-Falahiyah Kemiri Junior High School. The researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as a research methodology. There were 35 students as the subject of the research.This research was conducted in two cycles which consisted of three meetings in every cycle. The researcher used pretest and post test to collect the quantitative data. Meanwhile, the researcher used observation sheet and documentation for collecting the qualitative data. The objectives of this research was to find out whether pictures can be used to improve the students vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of Al-Falahiyah Kemiri or not. The students responses In cycle I and cycle II were very enthusiastic and active in teaching and learning activities. The result of the research, there was an improvement using picture vocabulary which focused on noun. It could be seen from the improvement in every cycle. The average score of pretest was 60.28. Post test in cycle I was 72.14, and the average score of post test in cycle II was 83.85. So, the students score percentage from pretest to post test in cycle two improved around 23.57% it improved from the target. In the conclusion, picture improved students’ vocabulary which focused on noun. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that by using picture, students can improve their ability in learning vocabulary. Besides, the learning activities picture as media of teaching learning process can improve students vocabulary score. Keywords: Action Research, Vocabulary, Picture
