Abstract

ABSTRACT SAMSUL MUARIF. 2321110237. The Influence of Learning Model and Student’s Formal Reasoning Ability to Physics Learning Outcomes at SMAN 4 Serang City. Thesis. Instructional Technology Program, Post Graduate, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. 2014. This study aims to determine the effect model of cooperative learning type STAD and formal reasoning physics students' learning outcomes on the subject of elasticity. The population in this study were students of class XI Science SMAN 4 Serang as much as 96 students. The sample of 64 students. The method used is the experiment method with a 2 x 2 factorial design. The study was conducted by giving formal reasoning tests toward experimental group and a control group to determine the students' level of formal reasoning. Then both of groups were treated in the learning process , the experimental group was given model of cooperative learning type STAD while the control group was given a model of non- STAD/conventional. After the treatment, both of groups were given a post-test to determine the physics student learning outcomes. The research hypotheses were tested by using analysis of variance ( ANAVA ) 2 way and the result of the research showed that: 1) there were differences in learning outcomes on the subject of elasticity between the group of students who received treatment model of cooperative learning type STAD with a group of students who received conventional treatment learning model; 2) there were differences in learning outcomes on the subject of elasticity between groups of students who have a high formal reasoning with a group of students who have low formal reasoning; 3) there was an interaction effect between the model of learning with formal reasoning on learning outcomes of students on the subject of elasticity ; 4) there was a difference in learning outcomes on the subject of elasticity for the group of students who have a formal reasoning high among the treated model of cooperative learning type STAD with conventional learning models; 5 ) There was no difference in learning outcomes on the subject of elasticity for the group of students who have low formal reasoning between the treated model of cooperative learning type STAD with model of of learning conventional.
