Abstract

Secara konvensional, Alutsista Militer umumnya menggunakan baja dan lapis baja komposit. Hal ini perlu untuk dipertimbangkan tidak hanya kinerja balistik struktur tetapi juga beratnya. Oleh karena itu, salah satu kandidat baru yaitu aluminium matrix composite (AMC). Penelitian ini merupakan salah satu pengembangan dari material aluminium matrix composite (AMC) yang merupakan campuran dari based material aluminium 6061, silikon karbida 5 %, magnesium 1 % dan variasi pola plain weave steel wire di dalamnya. Material aluminium matrix composite tersebut lalu dilakukan heat treatment dengan suhu 450 ℃ dan diberi perlakuan multi axial forging dalam keadaan panas, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kerapatan pada struktur rekristalisasi dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan sifat mekanik pada material aluminium matrix composite tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil karakterisasi dari pengaruh heat treatment dan perlakuan multi axial forging pada aluminium matrix composite menghasilkan peningkatan nilai kekerasan yang semula 56,83 HRB menjadi 78,67 HRB. Peningkatan kerapatan struktur rekritalisasi yang terdapat pada spesimen AMC (with MAF) yang mana porositas pada spesimen AMC (with MAF) terlihat lebih kecil jika dibandingkan dengan spesimen AMC (non MAF). Serta pada hasil uji balistik terdapat back face deformation sebesar 3 mm pada spesimen AMC (with MAF).

Additional Information: Conventionally, Military Defense Equipment generally uses steel and composite armor. It is necessary to consider not only the ballistic performance of the structure but also its weight. Therefore, one of the new candidates is aluminum matrix composite (AMC). This research is one of the developments of aluminum matrix composite (AMC) material which is a mixture of 6061 aluminum based material, 5% silicon carbide, 1% magnesium and variations of plain weave steel wire patterns in it. The aluminum matrix composite material is then subjected to heat treatment at a temperature of 450 ℃ and given a hot multi-axial forging treatment, with the aim of increasing the density of the recrystallized structure with the hope of improving the mechanical properties of the aluminum matrix composite material. Based on the results of the characterization of the effect of heat treatment and multi-axial forging treatment on aluminum matrix composite, the hardness value increased from 56.83 HRB to 78.67 HRB. The increased density of the recrystallized structure found in AMC (with MAF) specimens where the porosity in AMC (with MAF) specimens appears smaller when compared to AMC (non-MAF) specimens. As well as the results of the ballistic test there is a back face deformation of 3 mm on the AMC specimen (with MAF).
