Abstract

The use of incinerators in reducing waste in an area is quite widely applied because the method of use is quite efficient, the tool can burn up to a range of 700 – 1100°C. To achieve a fairly close or complete combustion, it is necessary to calculate the value of Air Fuel Ratio (AFR). The purpose of finding and determining the factors that influence the AFR value is to prove that the combustion that has been carried out can produce a fairly good AFR value, so that the combustion can approach or achieve complete combustion. Whether combustion is affected by the amount of waste weight as well as affected by the opening of the air valve that supplies during combustion. The research methodology used is the experimental method, which is a method used to find a causal relationship between two influential factors. By using variables that can affect the AFR value, namely the mass of waste as much as 5 kg and 25 kg as well as the air valve opening on the blower by 50%, 75% and 100% of the valve area. The results showed that AFR of 5 kg combustion waste by 50%, 75% and 100% intake air valve are 5.29, 9.77 and 14.29 respectively. Moreover, the AFR of combusting 25 kg waste are 2.3, 4.39, and 6.42 for 50%, 75% and 100 % intake air valve opening respectively.

Additional Information: Penggunaan alat incinerator dalam mengurangi sampah di suatu wilayah cukup banyak digunakan dikarenakan cara penggunaan yang cukup efisien, dapat membakar hingga rentang temperatur 700 – 1100°C. Untuk mencapai pembakaran yang cukup mendekati atau mencapai pembakaran sempurna, maka dibutuhkannya perhitungan pada nilai Air Fuel Ratio (AFR). Tujuan dalam mencari dan menentukan faktor yang mempengaruhi nilai AFR yaitu untuk dapat menganalisa apakah pembakaran yang telah dilakukan baik dipengaruhi oleh banyaknya massa sampah dan bukaan katup udara yang menyuplai selama pembakaran dapat menghasilkan nilai AFR yang cukup baik hingga pembakaran tersebut dapat mendekati atau mencapai pembakaran sempurna. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan metode eksperimental, yaitu merupakan suatu cara yang digunakan untuk mencari hubungan sebab akibat antara dua faktor yang berpengaruh. Dengan menggunakan variabel yang dapat mempengaruhi nilai AFR yaitu massa sampah sebanyak 5 kg dan 25 kg juga dengan bukaan katup udara pada blower sebesar 50%, 75% dan 100% dari luasan katup. Maka didapatkan hasil nilai AFR pada pembakaran sampah 5 kg dengan katup udara masuk 50%, 75%, dan 100% berturut-turut adalah 5.29, 9.77, dan 14.29. Sedangkan untuk AFR pada pembakaran sampah 25 kg berturut-turut adalah 2.3, 4.39, dan 6.42.
