Abstract

Ameliorant is a material that can be used to increase soil fertility. Steel slag is a by-product of the steel industry that can be used as an ameliorant for rice plants because it contains CaO, SiO2, P2O5, Al2O3, MgO dan Fe2O3. While dolomite is limestone containing MgO and CaO which is good for use on agricultural land.This research was conducted to determine which type of ameliorant has an effect on the growth and yield of rice (Oryza sativa L.). This research was conducted from September to December 2021. The research design was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) which consisted of one factor, namely the provision of ameliorant. The application of various ameliorants consisted of 7 levels, namely without any treatment (P0), dolomite 2 t/ha (P1), dolomite 2 t/ha + steel slag 2.5 t/ha (P2), steel slag 1.5 t/ha (P3) , steel slag 2.5 t/ha (P4), steel slag 5 t/ha (P5) and steel slag 7.5 t/ha (P6). The results showed the treatment of dolomite 2 t/ha + steel slag 2.5 t/ha could increase the weight of 1000 grains. The treatment of 1.5 t/ha steel slag could increase the amount of grain per clump.

Additional Information: Amelioran merupakan bahan yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah. Steel slag merupakan bahan sampingan dari industri baja yang dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi amelioran bagi tanaman padi karena memiliki kandungan CaO, SiO2, P2O5, Al2O3, MgO dan Fe2O3. Sedangkan dolomit merupakan batuan kapur mengandung MgO dan CaO yang baik untuk digunakan pada tanah pertanian. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis amelioran manakah yang memberikan pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil padi (Oryza sativa L.). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September hingga Desember 2021. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari satu faktor yakni pemberian amelioran. Pemberian amelioran terdiri dari 7 taraf yakni tanpa perlakuan (P0), dolomit 2 t/ha (P1), dolomit 2 t/ha + steel slag 2,5 t/ha (P2), steel slag 1,5 t/ha (P3), steel slag 2,5 t/ha (P4), steel slag 5 t/ha (P5) dan steel slag 7,5 t/ha (P6). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian perlakuan dolomit 2 t/ha + steel slag 2,5 t/ha dapat meningkatkan bobot 1000 butir dan pemberian perlakuan steel slag 1,5 t/ha dapat meningkatkan jumlah gabah per rumpun.
