Abstract

Benthic organisms has an important role in basic mangrove community because of its function in process of mineralization and recycling of organic in the aquatic environment. The ravage of mangrove habitat will detriment the food of chain cycle for the entire mangrove ecosystem. The aims of this research was to know the diversity of benthic organisms in mangrove ecosystem of Lontar waters. The research was carried out from January 2016 until February 2016 in Lontar village Tirtayasa districts Serang Regency Banten Province and cultivation laboratory department of fisheries, faculty of agriculture, Tirtayasa university. The research's location has two station. Ie Station I : Large sized mangrove area and Station II : small sized mangrove area. Ekman grab were used to taken the sampel for each stations and used quadrat transect sampling technique sized 1x1m with depth of 30cm. The result showed that there were eleven species of benthic organism, Terebra dislocata (28%), Anadara granosa (22%), Telescopium telescopium (16%), Terbralia palustris (12%), Uca pugilator (7%), Mytilus edilus (3%), Mactra ordinaria (3%), Scylla serrata (3%), Mactra stultorum (2%), Polinices heros (2%) and Cassidula aurisfelis (2%). For each stations has a low diversity value, medium dominate (good environment), station I dominated by Terebra dislocata and station II dominated by Anadara granosa. The temperature at two stations quite normal range between 30°C – 34°C. The value of pH at station I between 7.8 - 8.4 and station II between 7.4 – 7.8. The value of DO was founded at station I between 3.3 – 4.9 and station II between 7.5 – 8.2. Salinity in each station quite normal range between 25 - 30 and still support the benthic life. Keywords : Diversity, Benthic
