Pembimbing I : Muhammad Jaiz, S.Sos., M.Pd. dan Pembimbing II : Dipl. Ing. Rangga Galura Gumelar, M.Si. Seiring berkembangnya jaman diikuti dengan berkembangnya Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi (IPTEK) yang menyebabkan terjadinya kemudahan dalam penyebaran Informasi yang seolah tanpa memiliki batas ruang dan waktu. Kota Serang merupakan Ibu Kota dari Provinsi Banten yang tentunya memiliki berbagai potensi investasi tinggi di berbagai bidang. Persaingan mempromosikan daerah melalui media massa baik cetak maupun elektronik saat ini tengah gencar dilakukan setiap daerah untuk menarik wisatawan maupun investor untuk datang ke daerahnya. Dengan begitu Kota Serang juga perlu memiliki sebuah media yang dapat membantu dalam menyebarkan informasi mengenai Kota Serang untuk melakukan promosi tentang potensi daerahnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat media yang dapat memberikan berbagai informasi tentang Kota Serang kepada masyarakat luas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif deskriptif, dimana dalam pembuatan buku essai foto ini peneliti mengumpulkan data berupa kata-kata dan gambar yang kemudian data tersebut peneliti olah menjadi sebuah buku esai foto dengan judul Selayang Pandang Kota Serang. Kemudian peneliti mengumpulkan data angka (Kuantitatif) dengan tujuan untuk membuktikan bahwa hasil dari penelitian ini dapat menyampaikan informasi dengan baik dan memberikan efek bagi pembacanya. Teori yang peneliti gunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teori Komunikasi Harrold Laswel dan teori-teori Desain Komunikasi Visual yang fokus ke bagian Layouting dan teori Persepsi. Hasil penelitian ini berupa produk buku esai Selayang Pandang Kota Serang, dan dari 100 responden yang peneliti dapatkan sebanyak 86,75% menjawab positif sehingga buku Selayang Pandang Kota Serang ini bisa dijadikan sebuah media penyebar informasi untuk Pemerintah Kota Serang. Kata kunci : Kota Serang, Desain Grafis, Layout, Teori Komunikasi, Esai Fotografi.

As time was followed by the development of Science and Technology (Science and Technology), which led to the ease of dissemination of information that seemed without limits of space and time. Serang city is the capital of Banten Province which of course has a variety of high investment potential in various fields. Competition promotes the area through the mass media, both print and electronic are being intensively conducted every area to attract tourists and investors to come to the region. With so Serang also need to have a media that can help in spreading information about the City of Serang for the promotion of their potentials. This research aims to create a media that can provide a variety of information about the city of Serang to the general public. The method used is qualitative descriptive, where in the making of this photo essay book researchers collected data in the form of words and images that came to these data the researcher if into a photo essay book titled Overview of Serang. Then the researchers collected data numbers (Quantitative) with the aim to prove that the results of this study can convey information well and give effect to its readers. The theory that researchers use in this research is the theory of Communication Harrold Laswel and theories Visual Communication Design is focused to the layouting and Percepion Theory. The results of this research is a book of essays product Glance Serang city, and of the 100 respondents that researchers get as much as 86.75% answered positively and book Overview Serang City can be used as a media disseminators of information for Serang city government.
