Berdasarkan observasi awal peneliti dilokasi penelitian ditemukan beberapa permasalahan yang berhubungan dengan rendahnya motivasi dan kinerja pegawai di Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon, antara lain : banyaknya pegawai yang terlambat datang ke tempat kerja, ada beberapa pegawai tidak mengikuti apel pagi yang dilaksanakan setiap senin pagi, ada pegawai yang tidak masuk kerja tanpa izin, serta adanya pegawai yang pulang lebih awal dari jam selesai kerja yang telah ditentukan, selain itu komputer, laptop dan kendaraan operasional yang ada juga masih kurang. Rumusan masalah penelitian ini, antara lain : seberapa besar motivasi di Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon, seberapa besar kinerja pegawai di Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon, dan seberapa besar hubungan motivasi dengan kinerja pegawai di Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon. Tujuan penelitian ini, antara lain : untuk mengetahui seberapa besar motivasi di Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon, untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kinerja pegawai di Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon, dan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar hubungan motivasi dengan kinerja pegawai di Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan asosiatif atau hubungan. Penelitian ini populasinya adalah pegawai negeri sipil Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon yang berada di kantor yang berjumlah 50 orang. Penentuan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik Probability Sampling, dengan teknik yang digunakan adalah proportionate stratified random sampling, dengan menggunakan rumus Isaac dan Michael dengan tingkat kesalahan 5% maka sampel yang didapat dalam penelitian ini adalah berjumlah 44 orang dengan penentuan sampel berdasarkan tingkat pendidikan. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan analisa korelasi Product Moment, dan uji signifikansi korelasi (uji t) Product Moment. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dan positif antara motivasi dengan kinerja pegawai Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kota Cilegon, dimana rhitung (0,995) > rtabel (0,297), berarti Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima.

Based on preliminary observation the researcher found some problems which related with low motivation and performance of officers at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation Cilegon City, as follows: many officers came late on work place, some officers didn’t attend the morning assembly which carried out every Monday morning, several officers didn’t attend to work without permission, and there were some officers which leaving earlier than they should be. Beside that there were a lack of computer, laptop and operational vehicle. The problem formulation of this research, were as follows : how the motivation at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation Cilegon City, how the performance of officers at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation Cilegon City, and how strength the relation between motivation with performance of officers at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation Cilegon City. The purpose of this research, were as follows : to know how the motivation at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation Cilegon City, to know how the performance of officers at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation Cilegon City, and to know how strength the relation between motivation with performance of officers at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation Cilegon City. This research applied quantitative research method with relation or associative approach. The population of the research were all of officers at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation with total number 50 persons. The researcher used Probability Sampling as sampling technique, and applied proportionate stratified random sampling based on Isaac and Michael formula with error level of 5%, thus the number of samples in this research were 44 persons and the sample selection was based on educational level. Data analysis technique in this research applied Product Moment analysis, Product Moment correlation significance test (t-test). Result of this research shown that there were positive and significant relation between motivation with officers performance at Agency of Industry, Trade and Cooperation, that rstatistic (0,995) > rtable (0,297), which mean Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted.
